The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago and the Sisters of St. Casimir participate
in their first retreat together

Thirty-two Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, Sisters of St. Casimir and FSC Associates attended a retreat from July 13th to July 19th in Marian Hall at Our Lady of Victory Convent in Lemont. The retreat was given by Father Tom McCarthy, OSA. Father Tom is an Augustinian Friar and former President and Principal of St. Rita of Cascia High School in Chicago. This was a retreat of 'firsts' as it was the first retreat Father Tom has given to religious women and also the first time the Sisters of St. Casimir joined the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago for a retreat. The title of the retreat was "Restlessness, " and the writings of St. Augustine were discussed. Saint Augustine of Hippo was an early Christian theologian and philosopher, whose writings influenced the development of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. Father Tom quoted St. Augustine: "Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him." Thank you to Father Tom McCarthy and all who attended this retreat.
