We're an exceptional congregation of women that share the commitment of daily prayer and serving the needy along with the joys and sorrows of life in community. We do this by ministering in the fields of senior housing, continuing care retirement communities, pastoral care, education and social services. Our life manifests the Franciscan spirit of prayer, poverty, simplicity, joy and ongoing conversion. Please take a few minutes to explore our website, our community, our ministry...

First Friday Holy Hour - March 3
"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land."

All praise be yours, our God, our All,
for your great presence and your love.
We greet you, eucharistic Lord;
we worship you and give you thanks.
All praise be yours, O Lord our God,
who call us to be meek and mild
for you will be our strength and pow'r
and lead us far beyond this world.
All praise be yours, O Lord our God,
The Father, Son, and Spirit, one,
who wraps us in eternal love
and give us holiness of life.

Sister Diane Marie Collins
Carrying on the Ministry of Education

The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago have had a long history in the field of education. Over the years, they staffed many parochial schools, providing Sisters for teaching assignments throughout several US states. Sister Diane Marie Collins was inspired early on by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago who taught her at Sacred Heart of Jesus Grammar School in Gary, Indiana. This led her to eventually join the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago in 1968.

Our Official Website for the Cause of Beatification for the foundress of the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, Venerable Mother Mary Theresa Dudzik.

The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago is a congregation of Catholic women living the Gospel life and dedicated to serving others for 120 years. We serve the people of God through works prompted by our charism: care for children, the sick, the infirm, and the elderly; and pastoral and social services.

The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago have adapted to the changing needs of society and expanded and refocused its ministry to respond to the changing needs of those served. The ability and need to serve continues to evolve and we are responding with new ministries in the areas of affordable housing, home health, hospice, and various community benefit services.

Guided by its Franciscan spirit, The Franciscan Sisters of Chicago celebrate life and are committed to joyful, compassionate service.
